Control cabinets for mechanical ventilation systems

Control of Supply and Exhaust Ventilation Systems: Functionality and Operating Principle of SHAU-V Cabinets

SHAU-V control cabinets are a key element in the automation of ventilation systems. Their task is to coordinate the operation of various equipment:

The cabinet`s operation is designed to:

SHAU-V cabinets are actively used in supply and exhaust ventilation systems for various purposes.

How the control cabinet works

The device functions In two modes, which are switched using a control on the front panel:

  1. Manual mode.
    The operator controls the actuators directly through the cabinet`s front panel. The following are used for this:

  1. Automatic mode.
    The cabinet operates according to a predetermined algorithm, based on signals from external sources:

Functionality of SHAU-V control cabinets

Basic set of control and protection functions:

  1. Flexible switching between control modes: manual and automatic.

  2. Adaptation of ventilation operation to seasonal conditions (Winter / Summer).

  3. Comprehensive fan motor protection:

  • Short circuit protection;
  • Overcurrent protection.
  1. Fan performance monitoring via a differential pressure sensor.

  2. Circulation pump protection (in systems with a water heater) from:

  • short circuit;
  • overcurrent.
  1. Thermal protection for the electric heater (in appropriate systems).

  2. System freeze prevention.

  3. Cabinet power supply monitoring.

  4. Filter status monitoring (via differential pressure sensor).

  5. Electrical equipment protection from:

  • Phase loss;
  • Phase imbalance (over 40%);
  • Incorrect phase connection sequence.
  1. Status indication:

  • Visual (on the front panel);
  • Remote (via potential-free contacts) — transmission of data on the fan`s operating and emergency modes.
  1. Emergency stop on "Fire" signal Fire alarm.

  2. Additional features (depending on the version):

  • Soft start/stop of the fan motor;
  • Fan speed control with variable frequency drive;
  • Heat recovery unit control (optional);
  • IP54 enclosure protection.

Cabinets with dual power input

  • With ATS (automatic transfer switch). In the event of a power failure (break, phase loss, incorrect connection sequence), automatic switching to the backup input occurs. After the main power is restored, the system returns to its original mode. The marking includes the designation "B" (e.g., "SHAU-V-380B-2-010-54-СХХХХХХХ").
  • Without built-in ATS. Each pump is fed from a separate input (e.g., from two distribution panels). The ATS is implemented only for the control circuit. The marking uses the designation "B2" (e.g., "SHAU-V-380B2-2-010-54-СХХХХХХХ").

Version with touchscreen LCD display

Cabinets marked "K" (e.g., "SHAU-V-380-2-031-54K-СХХХХХХХ) are equipped with a Russian-language touchscreen LCD display on the front panel. Its advantages:

  • display of mnemonic diagrams with visualization of key elements (fans, pumps, dampers, valves, relays, sensors);
  • elimination of signal lights on the panel;
  • monitoring the status of individual elements and the system as a whole (operation, fault, break, etc.);
  • access to the event log;
  • configuration of system parameters via the display interface.

Cabinets with soft starter

Frequent direct starting reduces the service life of the electric motor due to:

  • overheating of the windings;
  • accelerated aging of the insulation.

A soft starter (SSD) reduces the inrush current with 6-7 times to 2-3 times the nominal value, which:

  • reduces the network load;
  • extends the motor service life.

Cabinets with a soft starter are marked with the "P" symbol (e.g., SHAU-V-380-2-010-54P-СХХХХХХ).

Cabinets with a frequency converter

Models with marked "Ч" (for example, ШАУ-В-380-2-010-54Ч-СХХХХХХ) are equipped with a frequency converter. This ensures:

  • precise system performance control;
  • smooth engine start and stop.

Additional options

  1. Data transmission:

  • via Modbus RTU protocol (RS-485 interface);
  • via Modbus TCP/IP protocol (via Ethernet).
  1. UHL1 climate version:

  • Operating temperature range: from -60°C to +40°C;
  • Can be installed outdoors.
